So I got a sheet of 5 inch Kingspan(insulation foam) and cut it up into 4 pieces, then I cut from the pieces a (very)rough shape of the SH fairing using a full size template I made earlier. I repeated this 4 tmes so as to make 4 pieces.

Then, with quick drying adhesive, I attached the 4 pieces together.

So I then make a start on cutting a basic shape out, leaving it deliberately oversized so as when the time comes to cut it out exactly I will not make it too small due to unforseen error etc.

I then quickly trimmed off the serious excess material ;D

Then I started to fill in a few rough details to aid placement for the latter stages.

--------------------------

I just modded a side shot a bit to show you'se what work needs doing on her, I tilted the photo a bit because the where I had the fairing on the sofa made the bottom curve look much flatter.

---------------

---------------

------------------------

Righty, from that last point, I further modded the missile pods and a few more bits, applied skimcoat, sanded down to a perfect finish more akin to a babys arse, then a coat of paint was applied and in turn wet-sanded down(repeated 3 times) Then I proceeded to take a female mold from the buck. The molds are away from my house at the mo, but I shall be collecting them in the coming weeks.

Sure will
Its actually a German import 1991 XR250, compared to an XR/XL of 1985 Vintage the only differences are a thicker swingarm(In aluminium, not steel as well) Rear Disc Brake(Now the SH XR's originally had a drum rear set up so there was a mount and pull made up for it but on this I will just make up a dummy SH lookalike mount and pull)and the seat is a wee bit different(The '85 seat will bolt straight on though.

Recently I have been thinking whether or not to continue to use this XR as tbh I'd hate to chop it up for Streethawk, its too good a bike. I will keep my eyes open for an '85/XR250/500 and if one comes up at the right price I'l buy that ;)

Well, For me to create a bodykit from this I needed to take a female mold off it(Which I have done)and from that I can mold as many nosecones as I like. I will post a load of pics after Christmas as I will really re-knuckle back into the project.

lol, the more work I do the better it looks, then I end up thinking "if I just do this little bit more....", I kind of have to post pics soon. Once I get the side panels molded and mounted I think.

Seat recieved from www.bikeboneyard.com, Top class service and Highly recommended
This is a seat from a 1984 Honda XR500 - The bike the series SH version was based on. Just needs some black vinyl dye. Its propped up on the back of a sander to show the angle the seat fits at on the bike.
Basically what Ive got to do now is rub my molded nosecone down and fill it etc, then Im transferring the frontal seat catch from the XR250's standard tank unit onto the SH nosecone. Im doing some final surfacing on the side panel buck in preperation for molding and once both panels are filled and mounted properly Il take a few snaps.

Those rims look exactly like the ones on Street Hawk, I'm excited to see what they look like on your bike. Will they bolt straight on, or will there be some modifications needed to make them work?

The front one will go in no problem with a spacer, but the back one is an absolute [filtered out]. Its too big for the swing arm of the XR250. I will put it this way - Worst case scenario means I need to get an XL500 :-(

What do you think of the raised white letter tyres? I am debating keeping them.

Great wheels! Are those off of a Kawasaki? If they are, Chris B. once told me that a machine shop could modify the wheel to fit a Honda. Personally, I don't like the white letters. Black all the way! Raised letters or not, your bike will look great!

Yep, They are indeed from a Kawasaki

The back wheel will not fit the swingarm of my XR250. I went to look at an '82 XR500 on Friday and it turned out to be a complete Heap of S hite. I am going to go and have a look at this next weekend:

Sorry to hear the fit on the rear doesn't work, those wheels are so perfect!

It won't do a thing to help your bike look like Street Hawk, but I'm always a big fan of raised white lettering on tires. Of course, I'm from America where us rednecks think anything NASCAR is cool.

If the rubber on those tires is still good, I say keep em'!
